The Judgment

Conflict. You are sincere and are being obstructed. A cautious halt halfway brings good fortune. Going through to the end brings misfortune.

The Image

Heaven above water — forces moving in opposite directions. The creative moves upward while the abysmal sinks downward. Their natures diverge.

Interpretation

You are in a dispute or will be soon. Both sides believe they are right, and both have some justification. The hexagram warns against pursuing this conflict to its bitter end — even if you win, the cost will exceed the reward. Seek a mediator or a wise authority. Better still, find the compromise that allows both parties to preserve their dignity. Conflict drains creative energy that could be better spent elsewhere.

Advice

Don't push this fight to its conclusion. Find a mediator or compromise. Half-measures and partial victories are wiser than total war. Step back and ask whether winning this battle is worth what it costs.
