About Fehu

Fehu is the first rune of the Elder Futhark and represents primal, creative energy expressed through material abundance. In the old Norse world, cattle were the primary measure of wealth — mobile, living, productive assets that required care and attention to thrive. Fehu carries this same energy: wealth that is alive, that must be tended, and that multiplies when managed wisely. It is the rune of earned prosperity, entrepreneurial energy, and the understanding that abundance is not a static state but a flowing force.

Upright Meaning

Material abundance flows toward you. New financial opportunities emerge, earned wealth increases, and ventures begun now carry the energy of growth. Fehu is the spark of creation applied to the material world — not passive luck, but the active force that turns effort into reward. This is a time to invest, to begin, to trust that your labor will bear fruit.

Reversed Meaning

Resources drain or stagnate. Financial setbacks, poor investments, or a sense of scarcity despite having enough. Reversed Fehu warns against greed, hoarding, or placing too much identity in material possessions. The wealth you cling to may be the wealth that holds you back. Examine your relationship with money and ask whether you own your possessions or they own you.
