The Star

Upright Meaning

After the destruction of The Tower, The Star offers healing. A naked woman kneels beside a pool, pouring water onto the land and into the pool — nourishing both the conscious and unconscious mind. Eight stars shine above her: the large central star has eight points, connecting to the eightfold path and the principle of cosmic regeneration. She is completely exposed, completely vulnerable, and completely at peace. The Star is the soul's quiet certainty that meaning exists even after everything has fallen apart.

Reversed Meaning

Reversed, The Star speaks of lost hope or disconnection from purpose. The healing that follows destruction has been blocked — perhaps by cynicism, perhaps by the sheer weight of what was lost. But the stars are still there even when clouds obscure them. This card reversed asks you to look for the faintest glimmer and follow it.
